KARACHI: Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER) has expressed shock and grief over death of 10 workers and injuries to others in an explosion on board an oil tanker at Gadani shipbreaking yard today and demanded the provincial government of Balochistan to ensure provision of proper health and safety facilities to all workers.
In a statement here on Tuesday, PILER Executive Director Karamat Ali deplored the worst ever working conditions for the workers at the ship-breaking yard in Gadani town and despite various accidents in the past, no measure for provision of health and safety related arrangements have been made.
PILER has demanded the provincial government to ensure provision of all types of emergency, relief and medical services at the yard on permanent basis.
