LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday proposed to dissolve all assemblies and conduct early elections on the same day.
He said that PTI was ready to dissolve Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and proposed the same for other provinces after national consensus.
After the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), the PTI has also backed the move to forward the draft bill for delimitation of constituencies in the Council of Common Interests (CCI).
Fawad Chaudhry said that the bill should come under the discussion in the CCI. “The bill should be considered and focused … as the PTI is not in favour of its immediate approval,” he said.
He, however, said that the party would not accept delay in elections due to amendment to any bill. “We will not tolerate delays in the polls on the basis of delimitations,” he added.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal Sunday said that the PTI was fearful of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N)’s majority in the Senate, therefore it wanted to terminate the government’s tenure before time.
“The PTI’s behaviour is undemocratic. It is also afraid of PML-N’s success in the next Senate elections slated to be held in March 2018,” he said while talking to the media in Narowal.
He said that the government would transfer the power only through votes after completing its five-year tenure.
Ahsan Iqbal said the government had made considerable progress in the fields of energy, education, health and in the fight against terrorism.
