PESHAWAR: The Afghan authorities have closed a consulate in Peshawar in protest against interception of vehicle at a check post in the Peshawar cantonment area.
Afghan officials have confirmed reports of closure of the consulate. On the other hand, the security authorities said that the vehicle was not following specified protocol for official and diplomatic vehicles.
Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakariya said that the incident has been brought to their knowledge and he has contacted the Afghan authorities on the issue. He said that stance of Afghan officials was being waited.
