ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that India claims to be the largest democracy in the world but has been curbing the voice of innocent Kashmiris.
He was addressing a protest rally in front of the National Press Club to condemn the Indian Army’s carnage in the disputed state. The rally was led by Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Special Assistant on Political Affairs Asif Kirmani and Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division Tariq Fazal Chaudhry.
The participants of the rally were carrying placards inscribed with anti-India and pro-freedom slogans condemning the Indian terrorism in occupied Kashmir. Addressing the participants of the rally, Senator Pervaiz said that a black day was being observed on the directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to condemn and highlight the genocide of Kashmiris at the hands of the Indian forces deployed in Kashmir.
He said that Kashmiris have been facing Indian excesses for several decades but the recent wave of Indian atrocities has martyred countless youth only because they were demanding their right of self-determination as promised by the United Nations.
“The purpose of observing this black day was to awaken the world’s conscience from its slumber and highlight the Indian atrocities,” he said and added that Pakistan stands by their Kashmiri brethren with moral, political and diplomatic support for the just Kashmir cause will continue till Kashmir’s liberation from the Indian clutches.
He said the UN had promised that Kashmiris were free to make decisions about their destiny and Pakistan will support them till realisation of that goal. Pervaiz Rashid said that people from all walks of life were present in the rally including Islamabad mayor, deputy mayors, religious scholars, intellectuals and the general public.
Asif Kirmani said that dozens of Kashmiris have been martyred and hundreds injured during the last few days, showing India’s attempts to crush the freedom struggle through force, but the sacrifices of Burhan Wani and tens of thousands of other Kashmiris will not go to waste and they will soon be free from Indian clutches. He said that it was the responsibility of the international community and the United Nations in particular to pressurise India to stop the Kashmiri genocide.
Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that the participants of the rally strongly condemn the Indian atrocities and voice in support for the Kashmiri brethren has been raised from every nook and cranny of the country. He said the international community should take notice of the Kashmir situation. He said that the PML-N government will continue to raise the issue at all international forums, to highlight the Indian terrorism.
