ASTANA: Pakistan and Kazakhstan signed the Military Technical Cooperation Agreement, on Friday, on the sidelines of the ongoing Kazakhstan Defence Exhibition (KADEX-16). The agreement-signing was undertaken at a meeting between the Minister for Defence Production of Pakistan, Rana Tanveer Hussain, and Defence Minister of Kazakhstan, Tasmagambetov Imangali Nurgaliyevich.
Hussain is leading the Pakistani delegation to the four-day Kazakhstan Defence Exhibition (KADEX-2016), being held till June 5. The two Ministers comprehensively covered the defence relations between the two brotherly countries.The Ministers also expressed their satisfaction over their bilateral military relations and reiterated the mutual desire to pursue various joint ventures in order to further enhance their defence relations in all areas. Hussain also greatly appreciated the Kazakhstan’s positive contribution towards establishing regional stability and lauded the country’s role in Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Nurgaliyevich also highlighted the importance of Pakistan in South Asia and mentioned that the Agreement on Military Technical Cooperation had provided a solid platform to further enhance the bilateral military and technical cooperation, between the two countries. He mentioned that KADEX, one of the largest arms exhibitions in the Central Asian Region, was organised in Kazakhstan once every two years. It was hosting participants from more than 300 companies, representing as many as 35 countries or organisations, this year.
