ISLAMABAD: Overseas Pakistanis will be able to cast their votes to their favourite candidates through internet, subcommittee of Electoral Reforms Committee said on Tuesday.
Convener of the Committee, Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid told media that voting of overseas Pakistanis is possible through internet. He said the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) removed the reservations of the committee about casting of votes of overseas Pakistanis through internet.
The committee also agreed to invite tenders for preparing software for the registration of overseas Pakistanis. Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) numbers for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) will also be inked during the registration process.
On polling day, the overseas Pakistanis will be allotted special secret codes for casting their votes. Ballot paper will appear after submitting some secret code and answering secret questions. The overseas Pakistanis will also cast their votes through prescribed telephone numbers. One vote will be cast only through one mobile phone number.
